Flow With Dignity school tour Outreach
A tour on menstrual health, hygiene and sex education. Held within the month of October 2023 at schools in the rural Communities.
About 1.8 billion girls and women of reproductive age menstruate every month globally and millions are denied a dignified healthy way of managing their monthly flow. Research has shown that girls of the 21st century start puberty as early as 8 years and more than 80% of girls got deflowered at a very tender age with none or proper sex education. The flow with dignity School tour is focused on sex education and promoting healthy menstrual hygiene practices. Sex education is important because it helps young people gain the information and skills they need to make the best decisions for themselves about sex and relationships throughout their lives. It also enhances young people's understanding and improves their attitudes about sexual and reproductive health and behavior.
Poor menstrual hygiene, however, can pose serious health risks, like reproductive and urinary tract infections which can result in future infertility and birth complications. Neglecting to wash hands after changing menstrual products can spread infections, such as hepatitis B and thrush. It is therefore very important for our girls to be adequately knowledgeable about menstrual hygiene.
In lieu of all the above, this project is designed to enable girls grow into a better woman than the society will probably shape them to be.
The flow with dignity school tour 2023 sensitized 700 girls across 4 selected schools in the rural communities, outskirts of Ibadan City.
THE TOUR COVERED
Enlightenment on menstrual hygiene, breaking and claryfing myths, misconceptions associated with menstruation.
demonstrations on proper disposal of menstrual waste and its environmental impact.
A session on self-care and stress management techniques during menstrual periods.
A small exhibition showcasing different types of menstrual products, their usage, and benefits.
A tutorial on how to track menstrual cycles using a calendar or mobile app.
A storytelling session where girls can share their experiences and challenges related to menstrual hygiene.
A hands-on session on how to properly wash and care for menstrual products.
Sex education
Donation of free sanitary pads and other hygiene products.
Distribution of sex education/ menstrual hygiene booklet.
The outreach took place at schools in rural communities in outskirts of Ibadan. Schools visited are:
Ido Community High School Ido.
Akufo High School, Akufo Village.
Community Grammar School Akanran village.
Anglican Grammar School, Ojebode village.
The flow with dignity school tour symbolizes hope, compassion and the belief in a brighter future for the Girls. We provided essential sanitary pads to underprivileged Girls, empowering them to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence . The outreach did not only alleviatea significant burden but has also opened doors to Education and opportunities that otherwise would have been inaccessible. And the smiles on the faces of the girls gave us so much joy.
It is our hope and target to be able to reach up-to 5000 girls in the rural communities next year.

Female Roundtable 2.0
Tagged: Being a Nigerian woman; the struggles & the Intrigues and the good part
Nigeria’s underdevelopment regarding the status of women is due to a long history of colonial exploitation and oppression from pre-colonial times in the early 21st century, the rise and status of women in Nigeria has continually evolved. However, the image of a helpless, oppressed and marginalized group had undermined proper study and little recognition has been granted to the various integral functions that Nigeria women have performed throughout history.
The second edition of the female round table is focusing on all that is involved in being a Nigerian woman in the 21st century. It is a platform for women from different parts of Nigeria to come together, interact, share experiences, connect, lift each other beyond the heavy presence of patriarchy in Nigeria. This platform is to aid women development as the social role of women in Nigeria varies according to religious , cultural and geographic factors. Many Nigerian cultures see women solely as mothers, sisters, daughters and wives. Women in northern Nigeria are more likely to be secluded in the home than women in southern Nigeria who tend to participate more in
public life.
Therefore through the female round table 2.0 women would come together to tell their Nigerian story. Their stories in a patriarchal society like Nigeria where certain gender expectations exist, being a woman comes with a lot of responsibilities, restrictions and high expectations. Also for
them to review how the status of women has evolved over the years and what they should aspire to attain in years to come.
The female round table event is designed to be interactive, this edition will not be an exception. Moreso, a keynote speaker and team of 5 high achieving women panelist will engage the theme. This program is aimed at energizing Nigerian women on the need to look forward to a brighter future, on the need to do better, on need to raise above all prejudice/patriarchy, unity of purpose to achieve an all round development.
