Who is a strong woman? A strong woman is every Nigerian Woman, a strong woman is a woman who thrives through challenges and difficult times to create a great future for her self. A strong woman is a woman that sees obstacles as stepping stones to attain greater heights. A strong woman is every young female entrepreneur that chooses a decent source of living, despite the oppression from the society. A strong woman is every widow who uses a mountain to create a door to greatness and success.    The woman for greater good foundation is designed to help and encourage these strong women in living decent lives and standing out in our society today as a 21st century woman    In our pursuit to raise and empower strong women, who will continue to play their roles in the development of our country Nigeria, we provided business and live support services to a few widows who are the breadwinners of their families. We empowered five widows with the sum of N50,000 each to support their businesses.   One of the widows from Akwa Ibom state (Nse Robert) who resides in Ibadan saw our bill board for the female round table 2.0 and decided to attend because of the word “GREATER” that is included in our organization’s name. She opted for a gathering that can make her a greater woman. This decision has made her to become one of the beneficiaries of our business grant.      Through this intervention, the foundation continues to create conditions that enable our widows and women to lead lives with a reasonable degree of stability, support and access to resources that are required to cater for their basic needs, empowering them to find satisfaction in life.

Female roundtable 2.0

Tagged: Being a Nigerian Woman; The Struggles, The Intrigues and the Good Part. Nigeria’s underdevelopment regarding the status of women is due to a long history of colonial exploitation and oppression from pre-colonial times in the early 21st century, the role and status of women in Nigeria has continuously evolved. However, the image of a helpless, oppressed and marginalized group had undermined proper study and little recognition has been granted to the various integral functions that Nigeria women have performed throughout history. The second edition of the female round table focused on all that is involved in being a Nigerian woman in the 21st century. It was a platform for women from different parts of Nigeria to come together, interact, share experiences, connect, lift each other beyond the heavy presence of patriarchy in Nigeria. This platform is to aid women development as the social role of women in Nigeria varies according to religious , cultural and geographic factors. Many Nigerian cultures see women solely as mothers, sisters, daughters and wives. Women in northern Nigeria are more likely to be secluded in the home than women in southern Nigeria who tend to participate more in public life. Therefore through the female round table 2.0 women came together to tell their Nigerian story. Their stories in a patriarchal society like Nigeria where certain gender expectations exist, being a woman comes with a lot of responsibilities, restrictions and high expectations. Also for them to review how the status of women has evolved over the years and what they should aspire to attain in years to come. The female round table event is designed to be interactive, this edition was not an exception.
